At Nationwide Auto Transport, your satisfaction is our number one goal. We take pride in handling every vehicle entrusted to us with care and this includes motorcycles.
We have put together a check list of items to keep in mind when you are preparing to transport your motorcycle. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with our suggestions. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call one of Nationwide’s Transport Specialists at 800-689-6498.
Wash your bike and make a note of any existing damage for insurance purposes. For extra security, take pictures.
Remove all personal items from your bike's saddlebags and under-seat storage.
If you've installed an alarm on your bike, deactivate it so it doesn't go off during transport.
Make sure the tires are properly inflated.
Look for fuel/fluid leaks. In some cases, fluids may need to be drained from the motorcycle, the battery disconnected and the battery terminal cables secured to prevent electrical contact to comply with U.S. DOT regulations.
If you are choosing to have your bike shipped in a crate, drain the gas tank and remove the battery.
Fold in the side mirrors and lock the handlebars. With larger bikes, you might want to lower or remove the windshield and mirrors, and in some cases, the handlebars should be lowered as well.
Leave your bike in neutral. You should never ship a motorcycle while in gear, since an engaged transmission can cause internal damage.
